Title: N&W J 4-8-4
Post by: RGW on January 22, 2013, 01:18:38 PM
Just a crazy idea for Bachmann  .Help get #611 (class j 4-8-4) running again .Maybe you would  sell a lot more of N and HO J's.
Then even modern day layouts would have a excuse to run one.

By the way I love the N scale J,runs great and pull over 70 cars.

RGW-

I don't think that Bachmann is having any trouble selling Js. And
I believe the 611 is still operational; Norfolk Southern stopped
running trips with it due to insurance problems and hassles if
foreign railroads have to be used.

I know they sell many but ,maybe they could sell more.If UP restores and  runs a bigboy again athern will probable sell a few more of there model bigboys.

I believe that 611 would need some rebuilding and to be re certified  to run again.

Did someone just say "Southern 630 from TVRM"? Yes, I think they did. Funny, I just posted this video today.  ;D

As Far as I know the 611 is intact; BUT she would have to go through a complete overhaul and boiler certification, before going on the rails again. I'm not sure that NS or the historical society are willing to part with the funds that would cost.
