On30 / Railbus and Trailer Interior Lighting
February 11, 2010, 01:37:53 PM
Has anyone tried to add more interior lighting to the rail bus or the trailer? I realize that there is lighting by the driver, but I have not taken off either roof to check on wiring.

Thanks, Joe

On30 / Trolley Minimum Track Radius
November 12, 2009, 02:27:21 PM
I know this question has been asked before, but I cannot find the reponses. What is the minimum radius track that the trolley will operate on without derailing.

On30 / Passenger Train Color
May 07, 2009, 02:06:46 PM
I was looking to buy the Roaring Ridge (D&RGW) passenger train with the bumble bee 2-6-0 loco and the yellow (?) cars.  Some advertisements say the color is  "Rio Grande Gold".  Can someone tell me if the color is really "gold" or just a "bright yellow", and does the lighting in the cars actually show through the walls especially when operating in the dark.
I was also looking at the C&S passenger train.

On30 / Regauging an On3 Wheel Set
April 13, 2009, 06:46:38 PM
I just bought an On 3 Porter Tender for my 0-4-0 On 30 Bachman Porter, to run on my EZ track.   How difficult is it to regauge the wheel sets from On3 to On30 to make sure you move each wheel in the same distance to keep the tender centered on the tracks?
Any help would be appreciated, or is there a site that shows how to do it.  I have never regauged a wheel set.

General Discussion / CA Adhesives
February 27, 2009, 06:15:54 PM
I have used CA adhesives to assemble laser cut wooden buildings etc., and also to glue items on my trains, and scenery for years.  I have apparently developed an allergic reaction (irritation) to the adhesive in that my sinuses become plugged tight as if I have a cold.  It takes about 4 or 5  days to get over it. I have tested this many times, with the same results and all I can figure out is that it's the CA in the "super glues" that causes this. It affects me even with very good ventilation. Does anyone know of similar glues that cure rather quickly that do not contain CA?  I realize that the CA is probably what produces the fast cure time.  I'm willing to settle for a longer cure time as long as I can breathe.  Any help would be much appreciated.

General Discussion / Spectrum Transformer
February 17, 2009, 02:11:08 PM
I may have to replace my 10 year old Spectrum Transformer that came with my Wonderland Express On30 train set.  The transformer is Bachman Item No. BAC-44281.  However, I cannot seem to find one.  I am seeing a Bachman Power Pack & Speed Controller, Item No. BAC-44212  offered by various retailers.  Is the Spectrum Transformer no longer available, and being replaced by the new power pack?

Thanks, Joe

On30 / Spectrum Transformer Excessive Heat
February 16, 2009, 02:22:09 PM
My spectrun transformer becomes extremely hot on the top surface around the dial, after only 10 minutes of operating my 2-6-0 and 4 cars at about half load.  Then, the power decreases, then increases again, after a short time as if a thermal overload switch kicks in and out.   I took off the dial, and the metal post was so hot you could not touch it but for a few seconds.  My layout has not really changed (simple loop and a side track).  The transformer is 10 years old and came with the train set.  I know transformers become hot, simply from its operation, but this is excessive and started this year.  Time for a new one?  Any ideas would be appreciated.

On30 / O-4-0 Electrical Pickup Plunger Springs
February 03, 2009, 06:09:24 PM
My  9 year old 0-4-0 Porter is having problems with the electrical pickup plunger springs.  I have heard about replacing them.  How hard are they to change out, and what type new springs should I use.

Thanks in advance,  Joe
