Large / 2-8-0 Consolidation - screws??
July 05, 2021, 10:22:42 PM
After many years, I'm replacing gears and motor. Most of the screws are impossible to extract and I've drilled them out. None of the parts diagrams define what is needed for the new motor, gearbox parts, etc. The Bachmann website does not provide parts diagrams and I'm working with verty old diagrams that exclude all motor related parts. I've ordered al of the parts but not the screws. Maybe the parts come with screws? That would be a nice touch.

Large / USA Trains, Aristocraft Replacement Gears
June 23, 2014, 05:27:14 PM
Bachmann offers replacements for almost every part of their locomotives. Not so with others. USA Trains diesels all use an axle gear which is identical to Aristocraft's Pacific engine. USA Trains does not sell replacement gears, just whole wheel assemblies and, of course, it's almost impossible to find Aristocraft gears. I find it all kind of sad.

I've just replaced the nylon gear with the brass one, powered the tender with two Hartland power trucks. Now for battery. In older engines I do a lot of rewiring to separate out front and rear headlights from the motors. The Connie booklet suggests that this can be done with the circuit board that can be pulled out through the smokebox. They reference a Lenz DCC circuit board.
Has anyone tried this with Crest's revolution??
