HO / Short locos stop
December 14, 2011, 02:34:27 AM
I recently bought Bachmann remote turnouts #6 (44560) and use them without connection on my DCC layout and short locos like GP 35, 40, FT-A, etc. stop right in the middle of the turnout. Why ? Aren't they DCC friendly ? What's the problem ?

HO / FT-A loco scratching track
December 09, 2011, 12:33:38 AM
Hi all,

Suddenly I noticed that my Bachmann DCC FT-A loco is scratching the track, its front, snowplow ?, is directly touching the rails. Sometimes the light is on and sometimes it's not. It's almost new, a couple of months in use. The wheel trucks are too fitted in or the plastic front is too low making contact with the rails ! What can I do ? How can I fix this problem ? Hasn't anyone noticed that ?

HO / 9 Inch Power Terminal with Insulated Gap track
November 24, 2011, 09:16:39 PM
I want to use this Bachmann E-Z Track 9 Inch Power Terminal with Insulated Gap Nickel Silver HO Scale Item # BAC44597 as Power Terminal only to cover the wire. How does this work ? Somebody told me something about two connectors underneath, so how is it used for Power Terminal, I don't want to screw anything up ?

November 19, 2011, 06:14:10 PM
Guys, is this old Bachmann HO TGV train set any good ? A regular price, quality ? Anybody has it ? How does it look and run, when was it officially released ?

HO / C track - EZ track HO Coach Compatibility
November 19, 2011, 06:07:03 PM
Guys, can I run C-track Marklin (3-rail) coaches and rolling stock on my DCC/DC EZ track without any electrical problems, I mean just wagons, not locos ? Or can I make some easy modifications ?

HO / Decoder for ATHEARN/GENESIS HO SCALE SD-70MAC CSX ?
November 15, 2011, 09:35:37 PM
Guys, what kind of basic decoder fits this locomotive ? Do you think it's a 9 pin quick plug and play decoder that's needed ? What options do I have ? Can a nonexpert like me just plug it in, no messing with it ? Thanks.

HO / How many locos ... ?
November 12, 2011, 01:38:57 AM
How many DC HO locos will a standard DC starter set power pack run ? Any experience ? Like 2-3 or more ? Any damage can occur to the motors depending on the number of engines run at the same time ? I think my DCC Bachmann EZ track turnouts and crossovers and remote #6 turnouts, in this to-be DC case all operated only manually, not to screw thngs up, are electrically insulated, no polarity or short issue, right ?

HO / DC-DCC issues
November 09, 2011, 01:18:11 PM
Guys, I've been using Bachmann Dynamis DCC system, but I also have a speed controller from the 2010 DCC Acela set. All my locos are Bachmann DCC. Now I've seen on Ebay a number of smashing Mehano Speed Trains for $ 200, Thalys, ICE3, Ave, and TGV, they are DC, I suppose. Could I run the speed trains only on my massive layout if I use a standard power pack instead of my DCC system, will they all run only in the same direction, will my Bachmann DCC locos run at the same time without any problem, overheating, etc. ? Could the 2010 DCC Acela set speed controller be used as the standard DC power pack, what's the difference, isn't it the same, the voltage to the track ? Could I run standard DC locos on such a layout without overheating, or do I have to use Dynamis for my Bachmann DCC locos only, and for my DC Piko and Mehano locos I plan to order only the standard DC power pack ? Thank you for any clarification !

HO / Spare Atlas Flex Track, anyone ?
October 19, 2011, 09:29:37 PM
Hi at it again,

guys, doesn't anyone please have some spare Atlas NS Flex track pieces ? What size ? Any size ? Its condition ? I need a few fillers between EZ track 45, 60, and 90 degree crossings. I would pay you by PayPal for the track and the shipping so that you can send it cheap as a letter to Nicaragua, you know, the real end of the model train world.  Please and thank you !

HO / Shinohara #4 DOUBLE CROSSOVER --- TURNOUT
October 03, 2011, 09:23:28 PM
Guys, will I have any electrical or radius curve problem with these double crossovers, I would use them manually only on my new second yard with Atlas Code 100 track ? I don't have any problem with EZ track #6 Single Crossovers, in terms of shorts or derailments, but these are #4 ? Anybody knows this #4 Shinohara radius ? Can the loco cause a short if it derails, e.g., going the wrong way, my fault ? This is the info that goes with it on ebay.

Now that more and more layouts are using Digital Command Control, we've revised our entire selection of turnouts to make them DCC-Friendly.

These drop-in replacements for existing  Code 100 products come fully assembled with:

Isolated frog with built-in connection;

Power Route-Selective All-Rail Frog

CURRENT IS CONTROLLED BY THE TURNOUT SETTING

Improved point clearance gaps to prevent short circuits from metal wheelsets

Insulated tie bar

Tab reinforcement to hold points more securely

Option to power frog through switch machines

Compatible with all swtich machines on the market

What's this ? I would use it only manually in the yard !!!

You will need to install an auto reversing unit on your layout once the crossover is installed. ????

HO / Glue for building kits
September 23, 2011, 01:13:18 PM
I've got this Walther's Diesel House and Roundhouse to try to build, or stick together. My one-million-dollar question is, can I use this Carpenter's Glue Grip Bond 2 All-Purpose White Glue, formulated for wood and craft use ? It's strong, transparent, washable, and paintable ! Is it all right for plastic stuff like above mentioned ? Can I safely use it without screwing up ? I can't find a different glue here, I'm scared of CA because it's an instant mess. Thanks.

HO / Woodland Scenics Risers/Inclines
September 13, 2011, 10:56:14 PM
I've been thinking about elevating my 35" radius degree track with 4% incline grade and my 33" radius degree track with 2% incline grade, only close to the wall, it's an oval, so that trains run on different levels in the background, both starting exactly after the last straight track in a curve until they reach the full height extending some nice stretch ending in the same declines, 4 and 2% respectively, before they reach the last curve to level the normal 4 track mainline where I have crossovers and turnouts #6.

I must be stupid or something, but I've been uselessly trying to figure out what kinds of Woodland Scenics stuff exactly, starters, risers, incline sets, etc. I need for this background elevation track of 35 and 33" radius degree. I hope you experienced railroaders understand what I mean.

I'm not sure what I should buy, should I buy only one 4% Incline Set, one 2% Incline Set, and/or 4% Incline Starters, 2% Incline Starters, how many packs ? Or anything else ?

Do these Woodland Scenics products fit 35 and 33" radius degree Ez track and won't, for example, my Bachmann Amtrak passenger cars derail or uncouple on such grades  ?

Anybody has any experience with these Incline products ? Please, thank you, your Czech !

HO / What Atlas Turnouts for EZ track
September 08, 2011, 03:45:25 AM
Hi again, I'd like to use some Atlas turnouts with my Ez track for areas like roundhouses, dead end sidings, etc, with hardly any traffic, just to make it more interesting, more complex, and mainly because they are cheap. Are there any good ? What kind of Atlas turnouts should I use, the best, are the cheapest OK, I suppose Code 100 ? Any "watchout" for electrical issues/insulated gap/frogs - I don't understand that stuff ? I don't see a problem with a roadbed, I'd level that, and the rail joiners are supposedly interchangeable with Bachmann, right, so that the Atlas turnouts easily connect to EZ track ?  I want to use these only manually at the huge yard, though all is DCC.

Also, I've been thinking about venturing into a Walthers Shinohara three-way, or a double crossover, very cool, can I easily connect it to EZ track as well, any electrical problem, if I operate it only manually ?

Thank you in advance, as always.

HO / Experimenting with EZ track
August 31, 2011, 05:38:46 AM
Hi, I'd like to experiment with Ez track a bit. I've got a 4 track mainline and I'd like to use 4 pieces of 90 degree track to literally cut through the mainline. The problem, as always with Bachmann, is the spacing - there's about one centimeter gap between the tracks when I connect two 90 degree crossings. How can I "fill up" the gap so that the train not derail, like filling it up with soldering ? Is that even possible ? So far I'm only in the planning wildly stage, but I'm really mad, lol, at Bachmann not giving us standard 90 degree crossings to smoothly cut through mainlines making them much more interesting. What do you think, railroaders ?

HO / Huge EZ track problem, help, please !!!
August 15, 2011, 10:37:36 PM
Like two days ago I was making a few changes on my layout, very carefully taking apart my EZ track, without too much pulling and pushing, the Nickel Silver rails just came off the roadbed. Out of like 50-60 sections, it happened to 27 ! yes, twenty seven pieces ! The track is like new ! Is this normal ? I'm shocked ! I don't know what to do. Can I glue the rails again to the roadbed, will it have an impact on conductivity ? What kind of glue should I use, or what should I do in general ? Please help me out with this ? Now I fear to even touch the EZ track.

HO / I want to buy these 10 Bachmann DCCs
July 27, 2011, 03:36:42 AM
Here they are: BAC64204, BAC60902, BAC60901, BAC60905, BAC62803, BAC60348, BAC60441, BAC83504, BAC61108, BAC60116

I would love to buy them directly from Bachmann, but look at their official out of this world prices, the double of what you get anywhere else, like at www.wholesaletrains.com, etc. I wanted to buy them on ebay, but no seller has them all, maybe just one, two items at most. The problem is that Wholesaletrains, the lowest prices online, don't ship to Nicaragua, Central America, where I reside, I called them, no matter I use PayPal.

Is there any way I can buy these engines as a bulk directly from Bachmann for great prices, including the shipping to Nicaragua ? How much would the lowest possible total be ? 10 locos is 10 locos ! I just need these trains, Mr Bachmann. I pay by PayPal.

HO / Bachmann Ballast Regulator #16947
July 26, 2011, 11:09:14 PM
Hi, I'm about to buy this model.

http://www.ioffer.com/buy/ho-spectrum-ballast-regulator-w-dcc-maintenance-vehicle-206526212-czechwizard-10222970

It's advertized that it's DCC, decoder equipped right from the factory, but the official Bachmann website says only the following, not DCC !

" We're pleased to offer three self-propelled Maintenance of Way vehicles. A perfect addition to any post-steam railroad, the vehicles are available in standard safety yellow and are easily customizable.

Features include:

• self-propelled
• precision skew-wound motor
• finescale interior detail
• die-cast gravel load (per prototype)
• RP25 wheels
• E-Z Mate® Mark II couplers

Price: $85.00

Product Code: 16947 "

So is it DCC factory-equipped or not ? Anybody has it ? Self-propelled, what ? I would appreciate any feedback, thank you.

HO / 30, 45, and 60 degree EZ track crossing use
July 15, 2011, 08:59:09 PM
Hi, I'm relatively new to HO scale railroading, I had a decent layout when I was 17 back in the Czech Republic, 20 years ago, where I bought all the good Piko stuff for literally peanuts, from fella communist Eastern Germany. Nowadays their capitalist stuff, the same thing plus DCC, costs a lot of Euros, and since I ended up in the tropics of impoverished Nicaragua, Central America, I can proudly afford the cheapest Bachmann stuff. I've bought just about everything from The Favorite Spot on Ebay, and other US outlets. I'm planning to do a huge HO scale layout in one third of my living room, already got 5 tables of plywood, only to set it up, lol, all the train equipment still unpacked, I'll have 4 mainlines, 26, 28, 33, and 35 degree radius curves, a helix to connect the 2 mainline upper level.

I've bought like 12 pieces of 30 degree crossing, first I thought I could fit it with my #6 turnouts, but it seems I was wrong, then like 4 pieces of 45 and 60 degree crossing. I don't have a problem with 90 degree crossings.

I've been trying to get some ideas on 30, 45, and 60 degree crossings with # 6 turnouts and crossovers, something complicated, sophisticated, but I hardly can. I think I have enough room, but I definitely lack ideas. I've tried Anyrail, but I'm not good at it, and patience is an issue, etc.

So, guys, please, do you have any ideas regarding 30, 45, 60 degree EZ track crossings ? Thank you for trying to bear with me !
