Thanks. My  plan would not work using two ez command controllers. Is it possible to control 2 individual locomotives independentla using the basic ez command station?

HO / DCC multi train train running question.
May 06, 2017, 06:03:39 PM
With switching back to HO I want to be able run two switch engines at the same time.So it is time to go DCC. And the ease of wiring.  I do not want to sell the farm on starting , so can I get 2 of the bachmann ez commoand controllers and hook them both up to the tracks and run both engines at the same time ( two man operation ) obviously  each controller and engine would have a different address. Would there be some problems interference.  Do I need power boosters.  The planned layout is a self type about 20 feet long.

I'm going to miss seeing your awesome kitbashes in N, sad to see them being sold online but I've been there myself. BUT I am most looking forward to seeing some of that creativity put to use in HO scale. I model HO and N steam, and many on here may remember me for my various projects as well. I actually have a mikado chassis of yours you sold me. Still haven't worked on it but was planning to do what you did with an H-4 shell  for the boiler ;D

Now back on topic:

I was thinking of doing what you're doing with a docksider 0-4-0. There's a guy at our club who put RC/Battery power into an Alco 2-6-0 and it runs like any other engine without need for power in the rails. I have to ask him how he did it. I may have to go digging through my emails or ask him myself.

Thank you. I do have plan for HO steam. But it will be smaller steam.

I just picked up a  newer Bachmann USRA 0-6-0 with full valve gear off feebay  It runs very good. When I clear out my N scale I plan up adding better details / crew  to this thing and of course weathering. I will be experimenting with a small RC car  esc to see how the it will work. I my run a lipo battery or set the track voltage at 10v and use track power. If i use track power I will add tender pick ups

I wish bacmann sold the tender from the Alco 2-6-0 separate that is the tender I want behind this engine.

Yes. I has too much stuff going on right now and decided  to build a small  ho switching layout.
I love n scale ,but want sone thing that can sit for a month and run with out cleaning tracks

My n layout had got to big and was not designed for switching.

HO / Battery powered Bachmann 2-8-0 ****now 0-6-0

I am switching  scales and would like to take a Bachmann 2-8-0 NonDCC  and convert it to remote control ( I have rc cars so I have a  receiver and controls ) My thought is get a small speed controller and wire it to the motor.
and put a lipo battery in the tender. has anybody tried this?  My concern is the amp draw of the motor and the a small speed controller. Its bad when the magic smoke comes out.

So you are modeling The rock island , CNW, or  UP in hope & Albert Lea

In waseca ,New richland, Albert Lea    M&SL or CNW or DME       Today  It is gone south of heartland .

There was some low grade iron ore around SE Minnesota on the CGW but it was gone by the late 60s.

My freelance line has ownership of the Milw line west of Le Cresent to S Dakota  and the line North of  Wells to Mankato.    Here is  the story behind  my layout   Milw sold these lines  during the 30s when it was short on money ,but has trackage rights, The M&W hauls ore out of SE MN  to the east and to MN smelting in Mankato. M&W like steam . I try to be prototypical with my Milw power but run what I like for the M&W , but do keep things in the right era.

Just a quick video of some Bachmann F7s painted up in Milwaukee Road colors. I cut up Bachmann train set F9s for the winterization hatch and bottom head light.

On feebay I look for a bottom shot to see the gears, if it has black gears on all wheels drivers it is a split frame engine, (at least this has been my experience ) if it has white gears I pass

N / New Bachmann 2-8-0 project
March 03, 2017, 08:55:23 PM
I picked up a used 2-8-0 with a missing pilot and made a new DM&IR 2-8-0.

I used a old MT pilot conversion for the Atlas 0-8-0 and put a atlas 0-8-0 tender shell on a spectrum USRA short tender. I extended the raised walkway and added the two air pumps from
a Bachmann USRA 2-6-6-2 shell that I had in my parts box.

I had one with the plastic valve gear hanger was slightly bend in with a similar problem. I bent it our and the problem was solved.

many times the problems are a simple fix. I agree the upside down test is were to start.
