Title: Rubber rock molds
Post by: slack on February 02, 2011, 04:02:02 PM
Hello I am making a mold for a rock wall. What  can you  use for mold release other than the $10 can from micro-mark? Any suggestions?
Thanks

What type of mould release you need depends in part on what you are pouring into the mould.  If it is plaster of Paris, for example, you don't need any mould release at all.

I spray my molds with a little water mixed with a few drops of dish soap, then shake them to get any extra water off they release a little better then just a dry mold. I have never seen any difference in results when applying the pigments to the rocks after using soapy water as opposed to nothing.
