Fuel Tank??
How about an Engineman !
I believe these are remote controlled locos.
WHOO!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Is it just me, or are they also missing something in the tail end of the engines? A black hole can be seen on both engines in the first picture, but it's just cut off in the second one. Maybe no radiator?
Kevin
How dare they do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chill out HO- I'm sure it has a good reason.
It looks like the windows are covered or painted or something like that.
Yeah. I think the windows are painted.
rObert : Tell us more.
Were they for the nackers-yard, or for a preservation line?
they are/were remote control slugs used in trasfer service.
MUed to live locos on train to move around the long cuts of cars
the windscreens are painted over to prevent onboard operation.
prime movers were removed and relpaced with much smaller diesel to power compressor and provide electrical for control system, hence no tank.
many times they were coupled to one end or the other of these units.

they have since been taken out of service, to be rebuilt into green goats or scrapped for parts.
pics taken in Pryor, OK.
Cool remeote control engines. I wonder if they can do that with a big boy.
:-\ OI VAY!!!
dude seriously.......you dont actually think a steam loco can be controlled via a handheld control or from another loco.....do you?
Yes i do. I think anyone can do anything if they put there mind to it and do work. So instead of always thinking it can't be done think about it. it would take some serious roboticts to do that but it is always nice to wonder and think. So to answer your questions yes i do.
dude......you dont have a clue how a steam loco works or is operated do you? oh well.....youre a kid and its always good to dream.
yes i do know how a steam loco operates. I am tierd of you telling me what i do and don't know> i probably know 3 times as much about operating a steam loc from my grampa nad my dad. SO mr.smartypants (haven't said that in a while) while you are trying to find the jonhson bar i am steaming a 56 miles in hour with a 5000 ton coal train to columbus in the norfolk and western A class #1218.
Dude it's impossible to be able to control the Johnson Bar, Throttle, Water Injector valves, Steam Injector Valves, Mechanical stoker, Blower Valve, Brake and Numerous other components from on handheld controller, it would require specially mounted servo moters to trun every nob and pull every lever and cord to operate a steam engine. And much less a Big Boy, they were taken of of operation for a reason. And there are currently no plans to put one back into operable condition. Sorry to burst you bubble but...

Sorry to bring up an old topic But...
Can anyone imagine a big decoder mounted in the tender. LOL. Function 0- headlight, function 1 bell, function 2 whistle, function 3 brakes. LOL, That would be fun...
there is a saying "theres a prototype for everything"
