Title: SPECTRUM SD45 C DISASSEMBLY
Post by: jwoj69 on March 08, 2009, 01:11:57 AM
IT LOOKS THAT THE NEW SD45 BODY IS A LOT MORE COMPLEX... I JJUST CAN NOT PUT MESELF AND TRY TO EXPERIMENT IN BLING ON HOW TO TAKE THE BODY OFF FOR DECODER INSTALATION. THE DRAWIING IS NOT CLEAR IF THE RAILINGS AR ESEPERATE FROM THE BODY LIKE LIFELIKE GP18 FOR EXAMPLE, OR F THE BODY SIMPLY SNAPS OFF.
I JUST LIKE TOO MUCH TO COME CLOSE DAMAGING IT

From Mark Peterson's locomotive encyclopedia:

"To remove the shell, use a small screwdriver (or toothpicks, or whatever), to spread the sides of the shell apart at the trucks. This will free the shell from the metal studs on the chassis that hold it in place. The shell should lift up and off readily at that point."

I TRIED YOUR METHODE AND WORK WELL ON MY PENNSY. WHEN I WAS TAKING APART UNION PACIFIC ( AND I TOOK MY TIME) I HAD NOTICE THAT ONE CLIP WAS ALREADY BROKEN. I INVESTIGATED AND I HAD NOTICE THAT SOMEHOW THE PLASTIC ON UNION PACIFIC ( YELLOW AND GREY) IS O LOT MORE BRITTLE THAN BLACK PLASTIC FROM PENNSY. IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEHOW THEY ARE DIFFERENT?
