Title: GP30 DCC Fitted - Flywheels
Post by: atm763003(uk) on September 23, 2009, 02:26:08 PM
Should the GP30s (eg 60813) come with factory fitted flywheels? Spokesman at Bachmann UK Service Department says yes, but mine doesn't have any fitted and the product diagram sheet, as far as I can make out does not show them, just the plastic housing on both sides of the motor. Or am I missing something?

The DCC GP-30s do not have flywheels, whereas the DC (analog) GP-30s do have flywheels. The reasoning behind this is that the DCC model already accelerates and decelerates with momentum in mind and you can change the CVs dealing with momentum if you want more gradual acceleration and deceleration. The DC models do not have any other way to regulate acceleration and deceleration, but through the use of flywheels.

Thanks for the quick reply. Makes sense as the loco runs perfectly well under DCC.
