Title: If one finds a good reference website can it be posted here?
Post by: Robertj668 on September 26, 2009, 11:28:18 PM
This Question goes to who may know the answer.  Mr Bach Man Maybe?

A lot of times I get stumped on engines especially my steam engines. So I am constantly trying to learn more about them.  I have several books but I also use the internet as well.

Well tonight I found  two nice websites for references of steam engines.  I would love to share them but wan to make sure may I post them here.  I am going to ask the website for permission first before I make them available.

Or if anyone has a good site that they refer to often could you post it here too?

Have a good day.

Robert

Is your interest mostly in real steam locomotives or in models of them?  Here is a link to a book on the real thing:

Jim
I guess I should of added that.  But it would be real engines but model of them is good too.

The link is a nice operational guide.  Again I saved the link. I wonder if they would let me copy and paste it to a PDF "Book" so I could reread it when I am traveling.

There is a good chance they would let you do that.  Best thing is to drop an email to the website owner and ask.  The worst thing he/they can do is say no.  Most not-for-profit website are run by guys like you and me - trying to make information available because we enjoy railroading/model railroading.  So usually they say yes.

I have assumed you want to copy the whole pdf file, not just the URL linking you to it.  Copying the URL is fair game.  Copying what the URL leads to needs permission.

Dear Robert,
Posting links to websites is almost always allowed. Using photos from them on other sites requires permission.
Have fun!
