Title: Spectrum 2-10-2 on dc
Post by: Jbyrd on November 09, 2009, 01:40:32 AM
We are new to HO ...... Just bought a Spectrum 2-10-2 DCC equipped #5212, running on a standard DC track. It's a beginners set up for my two boys. All new track controller and locomotive, the loco was not part of the set, purchased seperatly. Trains runs fine but lights don't work in forward or reverse. Do we need a dcc controller? Any info appreciated.

Lights should work on DC or Dcc out of the box. Be sure the plug between engine and tender is in all the way.
If lights still not working:
You will have to remove the tender shell. You should have received a jumper and instructions how to remove the dcc decoder and install the jumpers. Try this and see if the lights work. If they do then the problem is in the decoder. Try the decoder again and if lights don't work call Bachmann for a replacement. Look for a loose wire if the lights don't work with jumpers installed.
Quality control strikes again in China.

Thanks for the reply, we haven't removed the shell because of warranty issues, but we will try that tomorrow. You are right about the Q.C. in China.
