for years with ho and n scales  i have been using labelle 102 gear oil for gears and labelle 108 oil for motor lubrication. a drop or two of gear oil is all that is needed. oil lubricates by a film of oil. more is not better, only messier. a small drop of 108 on each motor bearing.
i also use a small puff of labelle 134 on the gears.
i beleive 106 is a combination of 102 and 134.

There are other brands of suitable oil on the market, but just make sure they are Plastic Compatible.  Otherwise, you may destroy your gears and other plastic parts of your locomotive.

All the lubricants Lex reccommended are plastic compatible.
