Can you put the Bachmann 44915 EZ Command Decoder w/ NMRA 8-Pin Connector (1) into Thomas the Train?

If you were up to soldering it in, yes. Thomas does not have a pre-existing plug.

Here is a website that either walks you through the process of installing a decoder, or the will install it for you even sell you a Thomas with decoder and light already installed in it. Hope it helps

Hmm. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page of the link jgaynor posted, you can order a DCC equipped Thomas. He also said that there is other engines available DCC equipped too, some with sound also.

I would recomend that you not buy from there. I bought a DCC Thomas w/Lights and it broke in the first few days. I sent it back and they fixed it, but Thomas' pinstripes were off! Then I called and they could do nothing. I ended up sending it to Bachmann Industries and they looked at it. They said it was one of the most dangerous models they'd ever seen!

I think it might just be one guy doing it. And in any case, one instance of a flawed model is no sure indicator. The Thomas he modified may have been faulty to start with, or he may have purchased defective components. Let's gather more data before passing judgment.
