Title: HO Shay sound instalation
Post by: hotrainlover on April 05, 2010, 05:20:10 PM
I have successfully installed a Soundtraxx Micro Tsunami sound decoder in this Shay!!  It sounds, and works beautifully.  One question....

If anyone HAS already done this before, how did you fit ALL the wires and decoder into the space of the tender?  I need about 1/4 inch more height to get the shell to fit right!

Good for you.

I took one look at the Shay and bought the DCC/Sound version. Adding DCC was enough, adding sound became too much of a challenge.

Just want to update the board..
I have been successful!!

The Tsunami sound in this Shay loco is great.  I cut the wires shorter, and the decoder fit!
By inverting the decoder, there is (just) enough room to fit it all in...  Bachmann, thanks for a great engine...  Again!!
