Title: Difference Between Side Door Caboose Colors?
Post by: railtwister on April 09, 2010, 10:41:03 AM
Hi Mr. Bach-Man,

It's all but impossible to tell from the posted photos on the web what the color difference is between 'Oxide Brown' and 'Oxide Red' as used on the side door cabooses, and my LHS doesn't have them all on display, either. I already have the SR&RL lettered version, and I'm considering getting a second, unlettered version, but I need to know which base color the SR&RL one is, 'Oxide Red', 'Oxide Brown', or some other shade altogether? The pictures available on the web of the restored prototype Maine two footer cabooses definitely seem to be a much brighter shade of red than the Bachmann SR&RL model, perhaps closer to the bright red unlettered version.

Thanks,
Bill

From the looks of things, the SR&RL one is in Oxide Brown.

However, when I got my Caboose, I bought a brand new Oxide Brown one in a sealed box. I opened it up to find what I'm sure is an Oxide Red model. Perhaps the people working for Bachmann can't tell either.  :D
