I have an 0-4-0 Porter that I plan to put a decoder in.  I think a standard decoder is too large so I bought a Digitrax DZ125 decoder for it.  This decoder is tiny but can still handle the current needed by the 0-4-0.  It also has BEMF control which I really like in steam locomotives.  The DZ125 has big features in a small package with a small price tag.

Here are two links for adding DCC and sound to a Porter.   There are more for just DCC.
