While test runing my shark (RF16) i accidently backed over a electro frog switch which was sent in the oppisite direction. It died instantly and then i started smelling something burning. Engine wouldn't run after that.
anyone else do that?
Fried the decoder probably.
It sounds like you might be running on DCC using a booster producing 5 amps or more. When you run an all metal turnout the wrong way, you normally pass current from the front wheels on one side to the rear wheels on the same side. This often involves some fine wiring which may burn up with a large current. You didn't mention the brand of your Shark so it is also possible that you burned not wiring but some other component in the pathway from one end to the other end of your locomotive.
You also didn't mention what power you were running your locomotive on at the time. But unless you have a setup with multiple boosters or multiple power packs, it is very unlikely that you burned up a decoder. The path from front truck to rear truck does NOT involve any current flow through the decoder. You could destroy a decoder by applying too much voltage to it but you cannot do that with a single booster or a single power supply.
If you need more information, let us know some more of the details.

DC power. it created a short when it hit the electro frog and i started smelling the electrical stuff.
Shark is best broiled, not fried.
Woody, Woody,
Ya beat me to it.
"There are only 2 types of people in the world, the 'Quick', and the 'Hungry'.
Woody -
Broiled for sure, but swordfish is better yet.
