Title: N gauge McKinley Explorer passenger cars
Post by: fwkone on July 07, 2010, 02:14:21 PM
Why are these cars not available other than in a kit?

Here is the Brand New McKinley Explorer Trainset that includes 3 pre-assembled ready to run Full-Dome passenger cars. Those don't look like a kit to me. If they are not yet available, they should be by about September.
Edit: I just checked and it is currently available from all your favorite retaillers. It is Bachmann Product Code: 24010.

What he means is, why aren't the cars available seprately from the set?

It is silly to produce the cars and not make them available. What if someone wants to expand the train? The car itself is available in Santa Fe and Amtrak paint but not the McKinley paint.

The same holds true for the Old Time cars that come in the 4-4-0 sets. I wish those were available individually. Instead I have to hunt train shows or E-bay for the old cardboard box versions or somebody who dropped their loco and trashed it, now selling off the rollingstock.

Actually this question has a fairly simple answer: it is not feasible for Bachmann to make everything, and for most people 3 cars are sufficient.
