Title: HO Train #4432 goes backwards not forward

I have a 4432 that goes backwards but not forward, how do I fix this issue?

More details would be helpful, also the Bachmann product number would help.

The engine is part of the Pacific Flyer train set #000692.  It is my grandson's train set

With no information, do you have any other locomotives (diesel or steam)? If so, do they run in both directions or if you flip it around will it run forward? If the power source is ruled out, is anything jammed or broken, was the loco subjected to rough handling (probably by your grandson) or did it fall or hit something? Did your grandson run it at full speed typically?

Check the linkage or side rods on the drive wheels. They might clear each other in reverse but hit in forward causing the engine to lock up. If so you might have to bend them gently to have them clear in forward.
