Title: reading 2-8-0
Post by: RAM on November 18, 2010, 09:00:25 PM
I saw two reading 2-8-0s on ebay today..  HO  Bowser & Bachmann Hybrid R & R 2-8-0 Locomotive & Tender & Bowser and what looks like a Varney boiler with a lot of detail parts.

Ram,

Do you have a question about the engines?   As you said,  they are Bowser/Bachmann hybrid.   I assume they are Bowser mechanisms with the Bachmann shell installed over the Bowser mech.   Bowser made the mechanism to repower the Bachmann 2-8-0.   The sad part is, the shell, which is a great representation of the Reading I10sa,  is no longer available because the molds were destroyed in an industrial accident years ago.

What a shame.  :(

Wonder what ever became of the old Varney Super Consolidation molds?  That was also a good basis for a Reading I-10.
