Title: non-Bachmann HO scale Hopper...
Post by: ajbruno on November 29, 2010, 03:40:10 PM
I am new to electric trainsets, from the Reading, PA area, and just purchased the Bachmann Iron King set.  I was interrested in obtaining a Hopper to add to the set...and I saw the Trainman(R) AAR 70-Ton 3-Bay 9-Panel Open Hopper -- Reading #60352 - HO-Scale on another website.

Will this run with my set?  Or do I have to stay with Bachmann units?

Any HO scale car, locomotive, etc will work with anything else as long as the couplers will work. Just simply look at the picture of the car on the website and see if it looks very similiar or the same as the on one of the cars in your train set.

It should work fine, at the most all you would have to do is switch couplers if your Bachmann train set is an older one, but if it is newer; it will run fine out of the box.

the trainman cars are very nice. i have several including that hopper car. mine is chessie system, but i want one of the reading ones too. did you know that athearn, bowser and bachmann also offer hopper cars painted for reading? all are good quality cars i wouldn't hesitate to buy.
