Title: USRA 4-8-2 Light Mountain Loco- DCC ready?
Post by: Jerry1313 on December 25, 2010, 06:26:41 PM
I have a Bachmann Spectrum USRA 4-8-2 Light Mountain Loco. Is it DCC ready? If so, which decoder do I use?

I am new to the hobby and I have much to learn!

Yes,

The decoder is installed in the boiler. There is a removable weight to make room for a small decoder. You need a DZ125 or similar small decoder to fit.

Here is a tutorial - http://trainweb.org/nrmrc/dccconv/ba482.html

Skipgear, hey, thanks very much! Just what info that I needed! I am working on a layout with two separate parallel tracks plus a train yard with three long sidings. I have a Bachmann DCC Controller and a Std. controller, so I can run them w/o DCC, but, I want to utilize the DCC eventually. I will order the decoder . Thanks again.
