Just purchased the Iron King and the Cargo King train sets for the boys (and me). The Cargo King works like a champ. The Iron King does not work at all. No light, smoke, or power. What can I do to test it out and get it going? The item number is 00693. The Cargo King was on the track first and we combined the tracks together.
If it's a diesel, it won't have smoke to start with.
The iron king should be a steam engine 0-6-0 with tender.
If you don't get lights or power to the motor at all there is a real problem.
Power is not even getting from the wheels to the engine and you may have to take it apart to fix it.
If you can return it to where you got it and get another one.
If you send it to Bachmann this time of the year you will have to wait for repair.
If your other engine is running fine on the track and power pack you have set up then they probably are ok and the problem is in the engine.
