Title: Ho track radius question
Post by: srevac on January 01, 2011, 12:47:50 PM
Because a set comes with 22" radius track, does that mean the set will not run on lesser curves?  I'm referring to the Royal Gorge set.  thanks

Yes, all the sets that come with 22" radius track are that way for a reason. It is because either the loco or passenger cars cannot negotiate 18" radius or anything smaller than 22" radius. Some sets can barely negotiate the 22" radius they come with, like the 4-8-4 from the Overland Limited set seems to reliably negotiate 24" radius or greater, but can (but unreliably) negotiate 22" radius curves.

the royal gorge is the rio grande passenger train right? if so, the locomotives will have no trouble on 18" curves but the passenger cars probably will due to their length. most freight cars will easily negotiate 18" curves.
