Title: Acela couplers
Post by: jonjdurkin on February 17, 2011, 10:31:26 AM
Yesterday (2/16) I spent the better part of the afternoon attempting to replace a broken coupler on an Acela passenger car. I disassembled the car and removed the wheelset over the coupler. It still isn't reassembled
because I'm having a hard time getting the "teeny" spring attached.  At the risk of being called a whiner I think whoever designed these"@#$%^& "  couplers should be forced to repair them for the rest of eternity.

The last Acela coupler I replaced, I left off the little spring.  It is exceedingly difficult to install.  I have had no problems with the car's operation without the spring.

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Jonathan

To be very blunt----
That is just one of the reasons I have not purchased the Acela and won't until it's problems including those ridiculous couplers have be corrected.

Sorry, but I am just being honest.
