I am new to DCC and need to understand if I can convert my Buchmann McKinley Express (EDM F9). It is currently working great on my DC layout. I am using Digitrax DCC equipment.

You have a split frame design and essentially no room to work with unless you do some milling. If you are experienced with milling it out to create more room then it is doable, but you will probably have to replace the weight elsewhere to maintain a reasonable amount of pulling power.
