I WAS WONDERING HOW THESE WERE ACTIVATED. DO THEY USE ONE OF THE TEN BUTTONS ON THE E-Z COMMAND CONTROLLER?

I think that is correct which is one of the reasons I decided to use regular analog turnouts for the remote turnouts I have (Most of my switching is done manually just like my uncoupling these days.

If you have a number of turnouts + locos etc you could run out of addresses easily on the EZ Comand which leaves you 3 choices.

1) Upgrade to a better DCC system that handle more addresses
2) replace the turnouts with manual ones
3)replace the turnouts with analog remotes run off say an old train set powerpack.
