I hope someone can help me on this one...
The CV&WS model railroad club is selling its old locomotives to make room for new ones, and no one seems to want them. I fell in love with 2 SD9s, and im actually considering them now and getting a bachmann S4 later (maybe for Christmas). The paint is a bit chipped, engines were stored, never ran for at least 2-3 years, will test run them on Thursday with a train (have it run up the helix and back down, along with going through a crossover) if i get permission to. They have DCC (soldered wires, not plugged in or built in) in them, so i at least wanna give them a try.
Anyone know how much these are probably worth as a pair?

Very hard to say. The rule is that used equipment is worth whatever the last buyer/seller pair agreed on. Some sellers are anxious to sell and will let things go cheap; others don't really want to sell or have a grossly inflated idea of their goods' vale and try to hold out for a princely sum. Buyers might want only huge bargains or be so in love with an item they'll pay whatever they have to pay to get an item. I must say, it sounds a little as though you may be in this last category. If so, be careful. You could easily overpay with such an attitude.
Check ebay and do a web search to get some idea as to value, but in the last analysis, it comes down to whether you and the seller can agree on a figure. Good luck!

was that REALLY necessary?
Doneldon: thank, I talked to a couple of people and they said not much more than $30 a piece, so I'm gonna offer $65 max.... see what happens tonight.
*UPDATE; the person didn't show up but he'll be there Wednesday*
