Title: Bachmann dcc
Post by: LVRR on November 20, 2011, 09:01:18 PM
Hello:  I may have goofed. I just ordered two DCC equipped  Bachmann sd40-2 engines. We only have a DC wired layout. Will these units run on a regular DC layout.  Thanks

Yes they will by default the decoders are set to run on DC so you are good to go, they will run like they are dc.

Thank you very much. I was worried that my grandson was going to have to push them around the layout.

They will run smooth but like Dc loco's unless you have block wiring you can only control one at a time.

You may want to consided buying a Bachmann EZ-Command, I'd recommend Ebay.
My four year old and Seven year old daughters use it with no problem, I Bought them the companion that plugs into the EZ-Comand and they each control their own loco running and stopping each as they like.

Don't be put off by dcc the wiring is just a two wire connection to the track the same as DC and using it in basic operation is easier then working your tv remote.
