Title: Decoder address for Bachmann dcc equipped locos
Post by: Sid North on November 22, 2011, 02:22:31 PM
??? I have a bachmann gp30 Reading Lines.  I have tried running it on address code 03 and have had no luck.  I use digitrax control.  I put this unit on my program track and it reads d n d.  What must I do to get control of this unit?

Assuming your locomotive has a decoder that was factory installed, try the cab number of the locomotive.  Decoders are shipped set to address 03 unless they are installed in a locomotive.  Then they are often set to the locomotive cab number.

From the DND reading, I assume you are using a Zephyr, either the DCS50 or the DCS51.  This command station has troubles reading back certain Lenz type decoders unless you connect a 1000 ohm resistor across the rails of your programming track.  This again assumes a factory installed decoder.
