Depends on the radius of the turns you want. I know that with 19" radius, it take 12 pieces to make half a circle. Not sure for the other sizes. The straight sections will depend on how long you want those to be. Sorry it is not more informative, but hope it will help. Maybe checking the Bachmann catalog will give some more insight. Sully

The regular Bachmann EZ track takes 6 to make a half circle.  That means 12 for the two half circles of a figure 8.

If you make a figure 8 with a 90 degree crossing you end up with 2 three-quarter circles, which should be 18 curve sections I suppose...

Keeping in track...

It takes 18 curve, 8 straight, and a 90 degree crossing (or 2 more straight if you use risers).

OK, the two half circles account for 12.  so how the rest of the 6 curves be distributed?

There's an odd number of tracks on each side.

To get to the 90 deg crossing in the middle you actually have to go through 3/4 of a circle on each side.  A half of circle will only get you to an oval.

Have fun!
