Title: Flywheel on 0-6-0?
Post by: Musicwerks on January 31, 2012, 12:59:42 PM
Dear friends,

I love the way my bachmann Virginian morse cruises with the flywheel action like a real loco braking. Do the Bachman 0-6-0 pacific flyer steam locos the same flywheel features that slow them down when stopping?

Rdg,

The 0-6-0 does not have a flywheel.

The 2-8-0 is the smallest Bachmann steamer with a flywheel.

Hi Jonathan,

Actually, the parts drawing for the new Alco 2-6-0 looks like there is a flywheel attached to the back side of the worm, although it looks like it may be too small for any effective coasting action. I would be surprised if the 4-4-0's and 4-6-0's don't also have similar small flywheels as well.

Thanks for setting me straight, Bill.  That's what I get for not tinkering with those locomotives, yet.  :)
