Title: Attaching tenders to 0-6-0 Steamers
Post by: GoCanes on February 19, 2012, 09:46:08 AM
Gonna help a local kid, who's 0-6-0 had an accident.  The tender came off the loco.  Looks like the plastic sway bar (it is called a sway bar, right?) broke off.

I assume I order a replacement sway bar.

What about those two wires from the tender?  Do I solder them (not an easy task, lots of plastic about)

Thanks

First off, the connection between the tender and loco is called the drawbar. (Swaybars ...anti roll bars... are on automobiles)

Second, there are no loose wires on any of the Bachmann 0-6-0's. Check spookshows site for the variations but the last 3-4 versions have had a live drawbar that transmits power through it via some whisker wipers soldered to the drawbar.

You can solder wires from the truck pickups to the small axle wipers on the #3 axle if you have problems with the drawbar. That may be what someone has done.

Yes, Drawbar. Thanks.

OK, I realize (now) that those two things are whisker wipers, not wires.

I will solder.  Thanks for the heads up
