Title: bachmann locomotives
Post by: dfl on April 21, 2012, 02:21:10 PM
I am a newcomer to this model train stuff so please excuse my  question  if it seems  lame. Any way what is the difference between the spectrum and regular  locomotives besides this dcc stuff?  Is one better than the other or what. Would appreciate any and all comments. By the way I have 4 Bachmann locos to start with and a bunch of rolling stock, most is off of ebay.

                                                           thanks,

                                                                     dfl

There will be others replying I am sure that can elaborate more then I can.
But, the basics are that the Spectrum are the top of the line.
Now saying that, there are some non-spectrum that are also top of the line.

Any engines that are in train sets are not top or even middle of the line in the majority of cases.
If you ever want to convert and Bachmann to DCC the get the more expensive better ones.
The lower cost ones in the train sets are just ok for basic roundy round, but the others are where you will get real value.
This following site will probably you all you need to know.
Many of us use it before we buy.

what is the difference between the spectrum and regular  locomotives,  When the spectrum line started out They had much better drive and highly detailed.  They did not have dcc.  Over they years some locomotive have be dropped from spectrum to regular.
