Title: Dz125 decoder problem
Post by: Cotton belt on August 06, 2012, 10:35:43 PM
I just installed a zd125 decoder in my sd45 dcc ready locomotive.  I have a ez command controller.  The engine runs jerky starting off and sometimes I loose control especially at high speed.  What could be the problem?

First thing of course is to make sure the track and wheels are as clean as possible.
That is the first thing I will check with problems like you are having.

My two with DZ125's would run fine for a while then each run bad. I took awhile to find the correct CV2 start, at about 10. CV3 for momentum is what I set to help with smooth starting, but since, I believe you don't have this it won't help.

Not much help, but it's all I've got.

The loco has pretty poor electrical pickup to begin with. When the decoder looses signal to the DCC system, it continues doing what it had been doing until another command is given to it. As Ken mentioned, clean the pickups and adjust them tighter so that they make sure to give good contact.

My solution was to change the pickup system completely.....
