Title: 2-8-0 consolidation question
Post by: Tomie on November 09, 2012, 04:16:35 PM
I have a new 2-8-0 consolidation and need to pull the shell so I can replace the headlight.  I burnt the headlight out when I switched out the DCC unit for a Tsunami TSU-1000.

You will have to remove the shell, AND pull the motor assembly.  The assembly is a split frame, and the 3mm LED is locked in place by the split frame.

Some Connies have the resistor on the PCB and some Connies have the resistor located between the split frame motor assembly--depends which version you have.

That hole where the wires come out, that's where the LED normally sits.  I, um, like to tinker.

This link will help with disassembly.

Thank you  Jonathan

I saw your article earlier but did not know if the 2-8-0 followed alone the same lines.  I'll get a 3mm led and change the old one out.

Just figured out that the LED was good.  It was the circuit board in the tender that was not making connection.  Wiring the headlight directly to the Tsunami (using a 680 ohm resister in series with one lead) and it's headlight on.
