Title: HELP
Post by: bucky on August 11, 2007, 05:41:21 PM
I got into trains with my grandson.  Now we want to do a layout with a couple of different trains.  Are there any good books that explaine how this stuff works.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Send me your mailing address off line. I have a Model Railroader "5 easy trackplans" that give a list of material, etc on building simple layouts. I'll be glad to mail it to you if you want it.

Reading the threads of this list will probably give you a lot of pointers.
I would strongly recommend NOT starting with a train set.  Instead, do a bit of research, ask questions, and buy locomotive, rollking stock, track, and power pack separately to fit in what you want to do.  It may cost a bit more, but the quality will quite likely be better and you will get what you want instead of an "almost right" package.
