Title: N scale DCC engines
Post by: Drgnone on January 05, 2013, 02:47:25 PM
I am looking for N Scale engines with DCC installed from the 1960s to present day.  The US Army has 2 rail battalions active iin the US and I would like to find a source for the engines.

As far as I know, the only locomotives that the army currently uses are two GE 80 Switcher for training. The 1205th Transportation Railway Operating Battalion only handles repair and track maintainance for rails in and around a few shipyards for loading and unloading of equipment heading overseas.

The military contracts their loads to be moved just like any other rail customer with the railroads.

Bachmann does make a GE 44 ton switcher painted in a US Army scheme. I believe Atlas has done some VO1000's in a military scheme also. Both are switchers for moving cars at the docks and bases, no mainline power.
