I bought a new Bachmann engine with a DCC factory installed decoder. What is the extra microchip for? Thx.

That is not a chip. Look at the instruction sheet. It is a DC adapter to run the loco on DC with no decoder. Unplug the decoder.

Check to see if you have a false bottom in your box with papers underneath.
