Title: GP7 DCC on board help
Post by: bapguy on January 07, 2013, 12:46:37 PM
I just bought a GP7 with DCC on board and am putting a sound decoder in it. I read in MR the review on it and says it takes a 28mm speaker. I tryed to install one and it seems too big. I tryed a 1'' speaker as well and can't get either one to seat far enough in the whole to get the fuel tank cover to seat properly. I installed with the cone faceing down. Is there some thing I'm missing? Thanks.  Joe

Joe-

I'm not sure what you meant by "cone facing down," but I can say the magnet should be the top of the speaker so the speaker fires down through the holes in the bottom of the fule tank. Sometimes you need to trim a bit off of the sides of a speaker's frame to get the speaker installed. Once it is in and functional the frame isn't very important any more. Just don't cut in to any part of the cone.

Good luck with your project.

The magnet faces away from the fuel tank. I'll try trimming down the speaker. Thanks.  Joe
