Title: Rolling Stock Color Schemes
Post by: jackfishingking on February 17, 2013, 07:48:55 PM
I am new to the hobby and I am interested in purchasing rolling stock from four major railroads, Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern, CSX, and BNSF Railway. I want my railroad cars to be up to date. What I would like to know is what the current color schemes are for the rolling stock of these four railroads.  Thanks.

Quite honestly, most cars on the rails anymore are leased cars. The class ones don't really own as much rolling stock as they used to. The stuff that is out there could be anywhere from brand new to 30 years old or more and in a multitude of different schemes. Your best reference is to railfan the area you want to model or at least watch a bunch of recent youtube videos to get a feel of what cars are out there.

Most new cars are very plain jane with just reporting marks and not much advertising the owner.
