what does cog V-belt drive mean?

A cog drive belt isn't smooth; the underside (the surface facing the center of the drive shaft or gears) has
notches in it to provide more reliable operation. Belts like this don't slip as regular smooth belts might.
Think of them as a hybrid between a conventional smooth belt and a chain drive.
