Title: HO Bachmann GP40 BNSF Dummy Engine
Post by: PatBarr on April 04, 2013, 02:44:39 PM
I"m looking for a dummy engine to match the GP40 BNSF one I have but can't seem to find one.  I've searched the internet and can find other dummy engines but not this one.  Any ideas?  Could I get the BNSF shell and mount it on a matching length rolling stock car?

My wife got me a Bachmann starter set for Christmas and I'm hooked.  Great hobby.

The BNSF paint scheme on this one looks like it's only comes in the train set. Bachmann does list shells for this but not in BNSF. Joe

I don't think Bachmann makes dummies anymore. but the motors draw so little current these days that adding a second powered gp40 shouldn't be a problem for a 1 amp controller like I suspect you have.

I would try online auction sites, flea markets, train shows, swap meets....
Any manufacturer is fair game and searching for an unpowered dummy increases your odds. You could even find a powered one with a bad engine, remove the drive train and there you go. Your prototype railroad (BNSF) could even run BN or SF locomotives. Lots of options out there.
