Title: HO DCC Jupiter?
Post by: Steam Freak on April 21, 2013, 06:56:35 PM
I would really love to see Bachmann make an HO scale DCC OnBoard version of the American Jupiter. Would you guys be able to add this request to your locomotive ideas?

Also, in light of Clover Valley #4 restored to operational condition, does Bachmann have any plans on making an HO scale version of their 2-6-6-2T?

Very easy to add a decoder. I have done three tender drive 4-4-0's.

Can you show how? Would still be nice to see an OnBoard version though.

Very easy.
Disconnect the two motor wires from the motor. Connect the two motor wires from the decoder and connect two pickup wires to the pickups.
You can use a Digitrax DZ1225 decoder or a TCS decoder. Both have N scale decoders good for one amp.

All decoders come with instructions.

Below is a photo of the three that I did some years ago with a Lenz N scale decoder  which is not as good as the two I recommended.
I did replace the motor in the Bachmann.
The General is original motor.
The IHC is original motor.

Harold has a good idea to improve the Bachmann.
