Title: boiler swap
Post by: electrical whiz kid on August 21, 2013, 07:49:31 PM
Hi all;
I have a Bachmann 4-6-0 and do not like the low boiler.  The other evening I was looking at a Roundhouse HOn3 2-8-0 I happen to have, and thought about swapping boilers.  If it happens as I think, I would get a slim high-sitting boiler on the 4-6-0, and a "Patmore-esque" assemblage on the narrow gauge 2-8-0.  Has anyone had any experience with this?

No, I quite like the small driver 4-6-0.I think this is a great little engine.

As you indicate you would like to do a swap with the superstructure, go for it that is what kitbashing is all about

Just as another example, I mated a Kemtron HOn3 C-16 boiler to a Roundhouse/MDC 0-6-0 mechanism in order to obtain a model of the East Broad Top's older standard gauge switcher, No. 6.
