Title: Firebox 4-8-2 Light Mountain
Post by: justl on September 15, 2013, 10:20:41 AM
I recently purchased a 4-8-2 light Mountain, DCC ready, on eBay.   It came with a DH120 decoder installed although the description said no DCC.  It ran slow and noisy but after lubricating it is up to speed and less noisy. The firebox is illuminated constantly, independently of the headlight.  Is there a way to make it flicker or turn it off?

Justl,

If memory serves, the firebox light has its own pcb which draws current independently from the current pick up wires.  There is no way to toggle it on/off.  However, one can clip the bulb out with no ill effects to the locomotive.

I find the Mountains to run better/quieter to more they are run.

Regards,

Jonathan
