Title: Turnouts
Post by: bernie7787 on September 07, 2007, 11:12:12 AM
Bachmann Turnouts run on ac. Can they be change to DC with the use diode ?  Can  a  Signal direction light connection be used with the turnout by using a diode to change ac to dc ?  Sorry I'm talking about Bachmann EZ Track System N/S.Need some Ideas.
                                               Thanks,

To me, it is not apparent what you actually want to accomplish.

Take a look at http://www.atlasrr.com/trackmisc/hosignals.htm

Turnouts run on diddly!  What is the motor you are using?  There are about a dozen or more I can think of, and most are quite different.  As Hunt inferred, be more specific.

probably worth smokin' one to find out. Try it with d-cell batteries first, about 6 V worth. One thing you have to worry about is common ground between the two. I am guessing a diode is required to prevent higher voltage feedback to the ratck. I don't think the answer is a simple yes or no.
