Title: on30 climax problem
Post by: michael holian on September 08, 2007, 03:25:47 AM
G'day everyone,

i have a question regarding the bevel gears underneath the climax, i have had my model for some time now and it has worked great but recently i have had problems with my loco, the motor works fine and there is movement from the mech through to the vertical rods but the gears don't move. so basiclly the gears don't mesh!!.

so basiclly my question is how do i fix this or do i have to get a new loco

Regards

dear michael,i had the same problem with my climax. you will find that the drive gear has parted company with the drive shaft knurling. when the loco is dissassembled,a small drop of superglue should solve the problem. mine has worked ok since this overhaul. maybe bachmann can modify the gear to shaft application.i also live in australia, melb to be exact. check with buffer stop who did the repair, regards graeme pendlebury

Dear Michael,
By all means contact your dealer first.
Have fun!
