Title: Sound upgrade for the GG-1
Post by: robtheailean on September 02, 2014, 01:27:57 AM
I purchased 2 of these great models - but could only get the "sound ready" version. Is there an upgrade "kit" to add the factory sound decoder? Could not see it on the site.

Bachmann do not sell their sound separately.

Cheers

Rob-

Dallee Electronics has a GG1 sound decoder for $120. Digitrax has one for a Kato N-scale GG1 for about $35 but you'd have to make sure that your
loco draws less than an amp with a peak of 1.25 amps. It's designed as a drop in for the Kato loco so I would expect installation to be quite a
project, but certainly not impossible.

There is an option. It has been given to you. This is model railroading.
I and many others have bought DCC ready locos and installed a sound decoder and speaker.
