Title: Melted stack
Post by: jlb307 on January 08, 2015, 11:02:10 AM
Hello all!
Getting into the hobby, and just purchased a used Smokey Mountain Express 0-6-0.
I'm guessing the person I bought it from ran the smoke unit dry for a bit too long as the stack is slightly leaning forward and to the side.

Outside of replacing the entire shell, is there any way to repair or even replace the stack?
I'm a little hesitant to put direct heat to it out of fear of doing more damage, and running it for a while to heat it up and soften the plastic a little hasn't worked.

I'd consider the hot water submersion method if it wasn't for the fact that the light housing would be submerged also, and I don't want to risk ruining THAT.

Any tips or helpful advice would be greatly appreciated!

Contact our service department and they will be happy to replace the shell.
